Eastbank Academy Rainscreen Cladding, Glasgow

The Project

The client approached Starfish Construction in June 2014 and requested assistance in the Design, Fabrication & Installation of a new Insulated Aluminium Rainscreen Cladding system. The existing fibreglass panels were beginning to fail and had reached the end of their 30 years life expectancy. It was essential that the new panels be designed, fabricated and installed in as short a timescale as possible to minimise disruption to the teaching curriculum.

The renewal project had many challenges to overcome including strengthening the timber roof structure; re-building sections of the brick wall partitions; curved sections of the building and utilising a mixture of specialist Cradle Platforms, Scaffolding & M.E.W.P’s to access all areas.

Starfish Construction were able to meet the challenges of working in a live school environment and delivered the project within the preset parameters.

Client Testimonial:

Eastbank Academy Lifecycle Manager

“The school estates have a number of important stakeholders and interested parties. It is very important that their individual needs are catered for. Given that it is a live educational environment Health & Safety is of paramount importance, as is the need to maintain the correct learning ambience. However we also have a responsibility to keep the building wind and watertight, whilst preserving its appearance. Various elevations of the building were almost inaccessible.

Starfish Construction once again enhanced their reputation through First Class Technical Knowhow, Project Management & execution of the works.”
